Comprehensive
Comprehensive Plan

Offers cover for a single overseas trip. It is designed to cover overseas medical, hospital and dental expenses, personal liability, luggage, unexpected trip cancellation, and much more. Plus, for an additional premium, you may be eligible to add Snow, Cruise and Adventure packs, increase item limits, and apply for pre-existing medical condition cover. 

Essentials
Essentials Plan

Offers budget-friendly cover for a single overseas trip. It is designed to cover overseas medical, hospital and dental expenses, personal liability, luggage, and unexpected trip cancellation. 

Domestic
Domestic Plan

Offers cover for a single trip within New Zealand. It is designed to cover personal liability, luggage, unexpected trip cancellation, and more. Plus, for an additional premium, you may be eligible to add Snow, Cruise and Adventure packs or increase item limits. 

Multi-Trip
Multi-Trip Plan

Is a 12-month plan that offers all the benefits of our Comprehensive or Domestic Plans for multiple trips within New Zealand and overseas. You pay one premium for all return trips from New Zealand that you make in a 12-month period. Simply choose each trip destination as well as the trip duration that will cover your longest journey: 15, 30 or 45 days.

If you need help while travelling, Allianz Partners will help you with any overseas medical emergency, with registered nurses and doctors only a phone call away. 

Pre-existing medical condition cover*

You may be eligible for pre-existing medical condition cover on Comprehensive and Multi-Trip plans. For Domestic plans pre-existing medical condition cover only applies to Cancellation and Additional Expenses. Use the nib Travel Insurance online medical assessment tool, which provides an instant outcome, to find out if you are eligible. If we agree in writing to provide cover for your pre-existing medical condition(s), an additional premium may be payable, and a medical excess may apply.

Luggage and personal effects*

If your luggage and personal effects are stolen, accidentally damaged or are permanently lost, you have cover when travelling. You must have taken reasonable precautions to safeguard them.

Claims process

If something happens while you are travelling, you can make a claim on our online claim portal. Claim online while you are still travelling or when you return.

Adventure ready*

Optional cover for activities like skiing, sea or ocean cruising, deep sea fishing and much more. So, you can tailor your cover to suit your needs.

Increased item cover*

If you plan to travel with higher value items, like camera equipment, you may want to cover items for a higher value. You can select higher item limits for the loss or theft of, or accidental damage to, your luggage and personal effects, for an additional premium.

Rental vehicle excess*

If your rental vehicle is involved in an accident while being driven by you and you're the nominated driver, or it's damaged or stolen while in your custody, we will pay up to the benefit limit in the selected plan.

Add on Options / Optional Covers

For an additional premium, you may be eligible to add one or more of the following optional covers to Comprehensive, Multi-Trip and Domestic Plans*.

snow pack
Snow Pack

Going to the snow? You may be eligible to add a Snow Pack that is designed to cover snow sport activities including amateur skiing, snowboarding, sledding, tobogganing, or tubing. A Snow Pack covers overseas snow sport emergency assistance, loss or damage to equipment, and more.

Adventure
Adventure Pack

Doing adventure activities? You may be eligible to add an Adventure Pack to your plan that is designed to cover a wide range of adventure activities including riding motorcycles, mopeds and scooters, quad biking, zip lining, river tubing, animal handling, and much more.

Cruise
Cruise Pack

Going sea or ocean cruising? Add a Cruise Pack, which is designed to cover medical costs on board, ship to shore evacuation, pre-paid shore excursion cancellation, cabin confinement and more.

Item Limits
Increased Item Limits Cover

Taking higher-value items? To increase the item limit for higher-value items, add Increased Item Limits Cover to your plan, so your item may be covered for a higher value, should it be stolen, lost or damaged.

Cover Types

The Cover Type which will apply to your Policy is based on the number of eligible travellers to be listed on Your Certificate of Insurance. The following Cover Types are available.*

Single

Covers you and your children or grandchildren named on the Certificate of Insurance who are aged under 25 years, not employed full-time and will be with you for 100% of your journey. 

Duo

Covers you and your travelling companion named on the Certificate of Insurance who is not a dependant and will be with you for at least 75% of your journey.

Family

Covers you, your spouse or partner, and your dependants named on the Certificate of Insurance who are aged under 25 years, not employed full-time and will be with you for 100% of your journey.

Multi-Trip

Covers you and the insured persons named on the Certificate of Insurance for multiple trips, over a 12-month period.

Pre-existing Medical Conditions

Please read the definition of a Pre-existing Medical Condition

Pre-existing Medical Conditions can complicate medical treatment, lengthen your recovery time, and increase medical costs if you are Injured or become sick while overseas. The likelihood of needing to cancel your holiday for health reasons is also a possibility. Therefore it is important that you understand what this Product covers when it comes to your health. Please ensure that you read the definition of Pre-existing Medical Condition in the section headed Our Definitions.

Including cover for Your Pre-existing Medical Condition

You can apply to include cover under your Policy for certain Pre-existing Medical Condition(s) at the time of purchasing your Policy. You will need to complete a medical assessment which can be done on-line or by calling the sales and general enquiries number shown on the back cover of the Policy Wording.
